Edouard Mendy's future at Chelsea remains uncertain after contract negotiations with club chiefs came to a stand-still, according to reports.
The Senegalese shotstopper returned to full training this week after recovering from a finger injury sustained in January.
Mendy has a contract that runs until 2025 with the Blues but, after falling out of favour with Graham Potter, the goalkeeper could soon be on his way out of west London.
According to The Times, the 31-year-old has held talks with club chiefs over a new deal at Stamford Bridge but they've made little progress in their discussions.
The same outlet claim that the club are nowhere near reaching an agreement for his contract extension and are prioritising other players contract renewals over Mendy's.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, since his arrival in the summer, wants to prevent players from going below two years remaining on their contracts and so has opened discussions with the Senegal international.
Mendy has hardly featured for Potter, with a shoulder problem and then the finger injury limiting him to just five appearances under the former Brighton boss.
In his absence Kepa Arrizabalaga has taken over as first choice and enjoyed a regular run of starts since September.
The Spaniard has kept eight clean sheets from his 18 Premier League appearances this campaign and has repaid the faith placed in him by Potter.
Mendy, meanwhile, was named the world’s best goalkeeper a year ago after a stunning start to this Chelsea career following his 2020 move from Rennes.
Chelsea have had initial discussions over the future of third choice Marcus Bettinelli whose contract expires at the end of this season.
They also bolstered their goalkeeping department with the signing of highly-rated US youngster Gabriel Slonina who joined up with Chelsea full-time in January and has featured three times for their under-21s.

Have you compared the salary of Mendy to that of Kepa? Kepa makes a whole lot more than Mendy. But Mendy has been more successful and productive for Chelsea. In all fairness, Mendy should be treated well. It’ll be disappointing to allow him to leave.

the way blacks talk about racism where it's irrelevant is just so senseless. it just shows the low esteem some y'all got. Last season when Kepa was being benched for Mendy, none of you said kepa was being maltreated racially.

My friend you're speaking in past tense, Mendy was great, successful and productive in the past seasons and not anymore. If he negotiated his contract when he wasn't making mistakes, before he was dethroned by Kepa he could have been getting paid a lot. But there is still time till 2025 he can sit on the bench, work on himself, get back to his former glory days and dethrone Kepa and then demand for better pay, it's very simple if not then we shall thank him for his services and let him go.
When was this past you’re talking about? Is it nice that Kepa is making 2X more in salary than Mendy? Wasn’t Kepa on the bench and still make more money? Don’t be blinded. I support Mendy to seek what he’s worth. If they don’t satisfy him reasonably, he should go.
