Emery insists playing out from the back is part of Arsenal new 'identity'

Arsenal's playing out from the back is here to stay as it is now their 'identity', according to Unai Emery.

Emery said: 'The last match, Watford, was maybe the worst in our build up. But we are going to try, to work, to improve, to achieve our style.

'To build up with the goalkeeper and centre back is going to be our identity but we are going to share sometimes with long balls.

'Against Frankfurt we were different and decided more times to do long ball, earn metres on the pitch and after attack the space. We are going to decide what to do on Sunday, depending on Aston Villa.'

Are his players given the freedom to make on-pitch judgement calls and have any input on the tactic?

Emery suggested his do, saying: 'We use different ways. We are working every day on the pitch here in training sessions to improve and achieve our best solution in each moment, using videos also.'

Sokratis was distraught after his error and took sole blame for Arsenal dropping two points at Vicarage Road from 2-0 up.

Emery said of the defender, who is set to be recalled to face Aston Villa today: 'We are a team. It is not individual. We spoke with him, with them. We need to be together and one mistake is not his mistake.

'It is the mistake of all the team and I am responsible because I decided to start like that.

'We need to be together when we win, when we lose and also be convinced in our preparation and our game plan in each match.'
