The pilot who was at the controls of the plane which was carrying Cardiff City's new signing Emiliano Sala did not have a commercial pilot's licence.
Dave Ibbotson was, in fact, a private pilot and not a commercial one.
This was revealed by The Sun on Friday morning.
Additionally, he had other jobs and spiralling debts.
The news comes after Guernsey Police made the heart-wrenching decision to call off the search for both the player and the pilot.
Ibbotson's various social media pages show that he was both a plumber and a DJ.
It seems that he worked two jobs in order to finance his passion for aviation.
Furthermore, Ibbotson carried out flights for skydivers in a bid to increase the number of hours he needed to become eligible for a commercial pilot's licence, something that should have been essential for him to have when piloting the plane with both himself and Sala on board.
According to The Sun, his close friends did not consider him a serious pilot and thought that he was a better plumber than a pilot.
The whereabouts of the plane and the two people on board at the time is still unknown.

Really? he doesn't have a licence to pilot and he is a better Plumber and DJ than pilot, Really? I thought this kind of story is only heard in Africa Now I know it's a general problem so welcome to Nigeria. My warm heart felt to sala cos who knows his faith now. I really pity him coz he just about to sign for new club for a change in life.

this is an organise crime, murder and everyone that has hand in the flight bookings and arrangement must be held responsible even the so call aviation authority must be held responsible for allowing some one without qualified license to fly, for allowing the flight to fly after several take off attempt failed and lastly for allowing such one propela flight to off at that uncondicive time, they all knew what happened just like what sala's ex said that the football mafia has hand in everything
