The Reds midfielder is yet to return to training after a back injury and is a major doubt for final with Real Madrid later this month
Emre Can's hopes of featuring for Liverpool in the Champions League final are receding with the midfielder no closer to a return from injury.
The German international has been troubled by a back injury and has not featured for club or country since March, but had hoped to resume full training this week.
Monday was seen as an important day for Can's recovery, but scan results on his injury remain inconclusive and he has already been ruled out of Sunday's final Premier League game of the season against Brighton.
There is still a chance that the 24-year-old will be fit enough to begin light training at Melwood next week, which would give him almost two weeks to prove himself to manager Jurgen Klopp before the final against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.
But fears are growing that Can has played his last game for the club, with a free transfer to Juventus likely to happen this summer when his contract at Anfield expires.
Liverpool's midfield options have been severely stretched in recent weeks with injuries not only to Can, but also Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will be missing until next season, but Lallana could play a part against Brighton after returning to training following a hamstring problem.
Liverpool are already without defenders Joe Gomez and Joel Matip for the rest of the campaign and must win on Sunday to ensure Champions League qualification for next season. Anything else could leave the door open for fifth-placed Chelsea to steal the final spot.

yeah i dont want "ref"al madrid winnig because of a lucky breakthrough: PSG could have done a comeback if it wasnt because of injuries, if Allegri was next to me right now i would litterally punch him he is a great manager with a great tactical brain and has led us into 2 ucl finals since he came extending our record of the most times ucl runnerup so he did the same against napoli, playing an unexpected lineup I was with a friend he told me the lineups i thought he was joking he almost completed a comeback in the second leg and he had in mind to keep Cuadrado for the last as he is the fastest in Juventus and entering him and another would have him 2 fast fresh legs while madrid had no remaining substitution against bayern ulreich made 2 mistakes czing benz to score if it was neuer they would have never got in as he is a sweeper keeper and marcelo did a handballwhich would have czed a pen making bayern go through on away goals

What are u saying man. Milner has been out saviour. Included in the squad for almost every match under Jurgen klopp this year. With 9 assist in cl he's proven himself as well.
I only said Milner is no longer a 90 minute player, he needs a back up in case he tires. His contributions are there for all to see which I have no questions on.

Its very unfortunate that our midfield has not been spared in terms of injuries. I would have loved to see Can back in the game. Milner is no longer a 90 minute player now where we needed another midfielder. Klopp experimented in the midfield by throwing TAA there but it didn't work out well.
