England's U15 national team walked off the field during a match against Ireland U15 after a player allegedly suffered racist abuse. The match, part of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival, was subsequently abandoned.

England U15 head coach Matt Thorp led his team off the field in the final minute following the incident.

According to the Daily Mail, an England player claimed that an opponent made racist remarks toward him.

The alleged abuse came after the England player had pushed an opponent during an earlier clash.

When the accusation was made, a member of the Ireland coaching staff reportedly shouted, "No, he didn't." This sparked protests from the England players, and staff from both benches became involved in an altercation.

After speaking with the accuser at the touchline, Thorp ordered his players off the field before the match could resume.

The match was abandoned in its final minute with Ireland leading 4-1.

FIFA Statement

FIFA has launched an investigation into the incident.

A FIFA spokesperson said: "FIFA is aware of an incident that occurred during the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival match between England and the Republic of Ireland.

"The referee abandoned the match after England refused to continue playing.

"Official reports are currently being collected, and the matter will be referred to the independent Disciplinary Committee, which will make a decision in due course."

It remains unclear whether the result at the time of abandonment will stand.
