Brighton defender Lewis Dunk has been called up for the first time by England for the Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.
Dunk has been watched extensively by England over the past 18 months and is drafted into Gareth Southgate's squad to replace injured Burnley centre-half James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski has been suffering a groin injury but was fit enough to play for Burnley during their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on Saturday.
Danny Rose and Luke Shaw are also doubts for England's double-header - they travel to Croatia on Friday night and then Spain the following Monday.
England medics will assess Rose's groin injury before making a decision on whether he can remain with the squad.
Rose limped off during the closing stages of Spurs' win over Leicester while Shaw hobbled out of Old Trafford following Saturday's win over Newcastle.
Leicester's Ben Chilwell, who made his international debut against Switzerland last month, is in line to replace Rose and Shaw if they fail to prove their fitness.
Rose joins Tottenham team-mates Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli and Serge Aurier in suffering with muscular problems amid concerns manager Mauricio Pochettino's punishing training sessions are taking its toll on players who played at the World Cup.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed on Friday that Dunk has signed a new five-year deal with Brighton.
Dunk, 26, has been vital to Brighton's success, says manager Chris Hughton.
He has made more than 200 appearances for the club since graduating from the academy and helped them secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.
Dunk's addition makes him the fourth player in the squad to have received his first senior call-up - Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount and James Maddison are the others.

It’s good that Southgate is recognising players from the ‘smaller’ clubs. Either that or there’s a dearth of English born players in the top clubs.

how I wish Shaw would stay out of this call up. he needs now to concentrate more on his club career. look at what England fans did to Raheem, the roasted this innocent Raheem like a chicken. he was luck Pep liked him, else Raheem would have lost his club football position. Shaw should sit back this time.

If you don't give the kids a chance there is no future for our countries team. I firmly believe we were lucky in the world cup we did not deserve where we got, better teams lost.!!!!

Shaw and Rose always find a reason to withdraw from international duty. If they are not prepared to do the hard graft and become part of the team then I think Southgate should look elsewhere...Chilwell and Sessegnon would be good starting points.

Fair play to him, had a good season so far with Brighton. But yet again no Coady who has been part of a defence only conceding 6 as he plays in a back 3 with Southgate uses. But no stick to playing Walker as cb even though he is better at rb.

I remember stating a good few years ago that one day the England squad will consist of players from the lower reaches of the PL, it's becoming more evident now and will soon contain top end Championship players. The recent WC was probably our best and last chance to actually win it.

Duffy and his partner Dunk are a solid partnership for Brighton and they concede fewer goals than most teams outside the top 8. Dunk is very solid, brilliant in the air, can run well with the ball, and is a leader. Well deserved call up
