England and Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins has proposed to his girlfriend Ellie Alderson during his post-season holiday just over a week after the Euro 2024 final.

Watkins was the nation's hero in England's European Championship semi-final victory over the Netherlands as he came off the bench to score a stunning finish.

Alderson followed him to Germany amongst a host of other WAGs and was an avid supporter in the stands as Watkins and his team-mates were eventually denied a historic piece of silverware by Spain.

He has since jetted off to the scenic Lake Como in Italy and shared a beautiful image of him down on one knee proposing to Alderson amid a stunning backdrop.

Sharing his engagement, Watkins captioned his post: 'Future wifey!! It was only right 21.07.24.'

The 28-year-old - dressed in white trousers and a cream top - shared a range of beautiful images as he got down on one knee amongst a terrace speckled with white roses.

Alderson - who donned a white flowing dress for the special occasion - looked down at her partner as he produced a diamond ring in a private zone at the luxury Mandarin Oriental resort.

He also shared images post-proposal of Alderson flashing her diamond engagement ring while sat on Watkins' knee with her left hand sporting other rings and a golden luxury watch on her wrist.

The couple first got together in 2018 and have seen their romance blossom ever since in-line with Watkins' rise to becoming one of the Premier League's most clinical goalscorers.

They live together in Birmingham and shares two children with Alderson - Amara, two, and one-year-old Marley - and are now set to tie the knot at what will likely be a glitzy wedding ceremony.

Club and international team-mates of the England star were quick to congratulate Watkins and Alderson as they broke the news of their engagement to the world via social media.

Chelsea and former England captain John Terry previously worked with Watkins at Villa and commented: 'Congratulations mate' alongside blue and red heart emojis.

Watkins' Villa team-mate Lucas Digne also sent a heartfelt message to the happy couple, adding: Congratulations mate.'

The pair will see out the remainder of their holiday before Watkins reports back to England for pre-season training with Villa as he looks to build on a career-best season in the Premier League.
