Ex-England and Arsenal physio Gary Lewin revealed the time he dislocated his ankle with the Three Lions at the 2014 World Cup.
The 55-year-old, who was head physiotherapist with the Gunners for 22 years, explained that he slipped and dislocated his ankle trying to pick up some drinks for the team during a match against Italy.
'(Daniel) Sturridge scored and we all jumped up to celebrate and because it was very humid we had this strategy in place where if a goal was scored for or against, the players would run over to the halfway line to get a drink,' he recalled to The Athletic.
'So when I jumped up to celebrate, I put my left foot out to go and get the drinks and my foot slipped into the gap between the AstroTurf and the pitch. My bodyweight was forward and my foot went sideways and it dislocated my ankle.'
Sturridge, then at Liverpool, had quickly equalised in the 37th minute after Claudio Marchisio gave the Italians the lead just two minutes earlier.
'I looked down and saw my foot pointing in the wrong direction,' Lewin added.
The physio remained calm despite being in pain, but admitted his wife - who was watching from home - was also experiencing some distress.
'I tapped the doctor's leg and said, 'I think I've dislocated my ankle.' I was very calm but it was agony. My wife was sitting at home watching the game and she thought I had a heart attack, so she was panicking.'
'When you dislocate a joint sometimes you get a little crack in one of the bones but you don't get too much damage, so I was hoping it was that. But as soon as I got to the hospital and saw the X-ray, I knew I was going home.'
