According to The Lawyer magazine, several Premier League clubs have hired lawyers to prepare lawsuits against Manchester City if Manchester City is found guilty of the 115 alleged breaches.
Manchester City and its rivals will be closely watching the outcome of the appeal and any legal precedents it may establish.
It is understood that if Manchester City is found to have violated league rules in any of the 115 charges, several Premier League clubs have hired lawyers to prepare to sue Manchester City for compensation, and have contacted various clubs for their opinions.
Everton has currently been ordered to pay Burnley nearly £40 million in damages and interest, although Everton intends to appeal. The case was heard in the autumn, and the Premier League is expected to announce its verdict this week.
Part of Burnley's claim is that if the 6-point deduction had occurred in 2022, Everton would have been relegated and Burnley would have remained in the Premier League.
Burnley's lawsuit is reportedly based on the legal principle of "loss of opportunity." In this scenario, clubs like Burnley might argue that while they were not guaranteed to stay in the Premier League, Everton's breaches deprived them of a real opportunity to do so.
It is believed that this decision is unprecedented and could have significant implications for future Financial Fair Play disputes, where clubs violating rules may face not only sporting sanctions but also compensation claims from other clubs.
