According to the Evening Standard, Szoboszlai's hamstring injury has recurred, and he is expected to miss the match against Arsenal.
Liverpool had hoped Szoboszlai would return in time to give them a significant boost ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The midfielder scored the winning goal in the corresponding fixture last season, but after missing five of Liverpool's last six matches, he is highly likely to miss Sunday's game at Anfield.
Szoboszlai first injured his hamstring on international duty with Hungary in the Nations League. The injury then flared up again, forcing him off after just 32 minutes in Liverpool's nine-man comeback victory against Brentford.
The good news is that the injury has not worsened, but Andoni Iraola has understandably been cautious about rushing the midfielder back.
As a result, the 26-year-old watched from the sidelines as the team beat Villarreal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea, but his return to action may not be far off.
Before the win against Brighton & Hove Albion, Andoni Iraola gave an update on Szoboszlai, revealing that the midfielder had been training individually and was expected to rejoin team training soon.
The Liverpool manager said: "Dominik will miss this weekend's game. I think he's not far from returning, but he hasn't trained with the team yet."
"Considering that he had to come off the last time we started him, we might wait a day or two longer than we did last week."
"He is in good condition. Dominik has been training individually outdoors and will train with the team, but he is not ready for this match yet."
