Erling Haaland continued his outstanding form with another goal in Manchester City's 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night
Erling Haaland underlined his astounding goalscoring talent and consistency once again by adding another record to his collection. The Norwegian goal machine scored again as Manchester City comfortably beat Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Phil Foden stole the show, finding the bottom corner twice with his left foot from the edge of the box, while Rayan Cherki also got on the score sheet after coming off the bench to cancel out Waldemar Anton's strike for Dortmund. But it wouldn't be a City game without a Haaland goal - and it got it by smashing into the net from Jeremy Doku's low cross in the first half.
It was his 27th goal of the 2025/26 season in just his 17th game for club and country. His fifth Champions League goal of the season also saw Haaland rack up another record, becoming the first player in the competition's history to score in five consecutive games for three different clubs.
His strikes for City come after he achieved the same feat with ex-club Dortmund, in 2020/21, and Red Bull Salzburg, in 2019/20. It's some achievement, but likely comes as no surprise to his team-mates.
"In terms of numbers, Erling is unbelievable," City winger Doku told TNT Sports. "Even tonight he scored one goal, but he's so much more than just goals and assists. He provides that for us - he's so important for us."
Haaland is no stranger to goal gluts, but the 25-year-old is in a purple patch even by his standards. Asked in the pre-match press conference if he can beat his best tally from the 2022/23 campaign, Haaland said: “Yeah I had 56 in total with the national team, so I’m on a good way. I don’t think of this.”
There is one record he has in his sights, though, after racking up 13 Premier League goals in 10 games so far this season. Asked about Alan Shearer's record of 260 goals in the competition, he said: “I don’t really know any records, but this one I know.
"I can’t think about records I can break – I try to help the team win football games. I know it’s boring, I know you want me to say the complete opposite, but it’s not how it is.”
Haaland has only gone goalless in two games so far this season: City's 2-0 home defeat by Tottenham in August and their recent 1-0 loss against Aston Villa. He will be hoping to make the difference once again when they host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday ahead of the international break.

You mean the 50 in a league or the 91 in a calende year, the first almost impossible & the for second record he has to start counting from Jan again because now he can't do it but he can start from 0 in Jan 2026 to then reach 91 , that's something unattainable I believe
i am talking about the whole season bro not only league or calender year .. 50 goals is for the league 91 in a calander year I said the season goals which is 73

You people will never talk about Osimhen like this even as he is currently the highest goal scorer in the CL with yesterday's hat-trick against Ajax. Osimhen missed the first CL game due to injury and everywhere is just quiet as if nothing happens. if he Osimhen was to come from Europe of South America, the story would have been different. Nigerians ar obsessed with their fellow compatriots, bro we're talking about records here .

He can break his premier league record of 36 goals in a season but can't beat Messi's 50 goals in la liga in 2012 . That's quite difficult

just imagine the penalty he scored was given to another player, someone that has 3 penalties out of 6 goals compared to someone that has not played any penalty this season....let's talk of who needs to be talked about at the moment.. nothing to talk about osimhen for now
