Erling Haaland is already speeding towards two records after Man City hat-trick vs Manchester United

Erling Haaland is an unstoppable force and it seems the occasion makes no difference. Man City faced Manchester United in what was a highly anticipated derby on Sunday, but it was clear by the end that despite Erik ten Hag's promising start to life at Old Trafford, he still has a long way to go.

Pep Guardiola's side won 6-3, with hattricks from both Haaland and Phil Foden and it is clear that the Norwegian shows no signs of slowing down. The striker now has 14 goals in eight games and barring injury it seems like he will break the Premier League scoring record.

The existing record for most goals in a single season is 34, which is held jointly between Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. If you don't want to accept that because it was in a 44-match season, then the record in a 38-game season is held by Liverpool's Mohammed Salah with 32.

Haaland is currently scoring at a rate of 1.75 goals a game and if he keeps up his current rate, then he will end the season on 66 goals. So it's safe to say that barring injury or a barren spell, the striker will break the record comfortably.

But it's not just the Premier League scoring record that Haaland could have in his sights. Despite only playing eight games, he already has three hattricks. The existing record in the Premier League is held by City legend Sergio Aguero with 12, meaning that the Norwegian is already 25% of the way there.

Fans will just be praying that their club is not playing in the game where Haaland decides to try and break the single-game scoring record of five goals, which is held by multiple players.

Overall it's clear that adding Haaland to an incredibly creative City side was going to cause problems for the rest of the Premier League, however, no one could have predicted just how potent it would be; with only Bournemouth (strangely) stopping the striker from scoring so far.

Add in that Haaland will not be going to the World Cup as Norway failed to qualify, so he will receive a month break in the middle of the season when his rivals will have to head to Qatar and it seems like the perfect storm for City to take full advantage of the striker's incredible sense for goal all season long.
