Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu has told the club he needs to play 'regular football' next season.
Ampadu, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United, says he has 'dreams' he wants to achieve, and to do so, he must get regular pitch time.
The 20-year-old says he is yet to discuss his future with Thomas Tuchel and that he has been spoken to Chelsea 'a bit here and there', but insists his focus is on finishing the season well with Sheffield.
Speaking to the YorkshireLive, Ampadu said: 'I haven't really spoken to him [Tuchel].
'I have spoken to Chelsea a little bit here and there just to see how the seasons are going, nothing for in the future, they have their season to finish off and we have ours.
'I need to be playing regular football, but I hope every footballer thinks that.
'That's your job and that's what you want to do, that's why you grow up having a dream. Where ever I am I want to be playing football.
'We will have to wait and see what happens. I have dreams myself, that's to play for one club, so we will have to wait and see.'
Ampadu - who is coming to the end of his season-long loan from Stamford Bridge - says it has been the biggest of his career so far.
He has made 27 appearances so far this season, with 21 of them being Premier League starts.
Having featured in all three positions along the back, as well as in midfield, Ampadu says this season has been a major learning curve.
The Wales international said: 'It's been a huge season for me, the biggest I have had as a footballer.
'I will take everything away from it that I can. Whether that's learning and adapting to the Premier League, watching games back on myself and seeing what I can improve on, which I do regularly anyway, off the pitch stuff, mentally, how to look after myself.'
Should Ampadu return to Stamford Bridge this summer, he will be looking to add to the 12 senior appearances he made after joining the Blues from boyhood club Exeter City in 2017.

what works most for players is hard work that force the parent club turn her attention to you and recall you from the loan which brings break through, not threat. lingard is doing it at westHam no doubt every one now is talking about him. I like Ampadu alot, but when you on loan is a chance to show what your parents club is missing which will make them be earger to have you back. I wish you get back to Tuchel list, of course if you merit it. Good luck bro.
but it's hard to show that as a defender because it doesn't catch as much attention as scoring goals

It's really difficult for this guy to get into this team because the best player on loan this season is Gallagher who is also a midfielder.

I THINK YOU COPY LINGARD AND STOP TALKING. LET YOUR PLAY DO THE TALKING NOT YOUR MOUTH. CHALSEA HAS SO MANY LOONIES AND MOST OF THEM ARE PERFORMING WELL SO PLEASE DO YOURSELF GOOD BY DOING SAME. GOOD LUCK.

He’s a versatile player. He can play in a back three, CDM, fullback. Don’t tell me he’s not good for us. If we’re to have a dominant squad we’ve got to have players that are versatile like him. He’s playing for Sheffield that’s why u can’t see his talent since they’re constantly losing. Remember him in the sarri era.
