The hero of the CONCACAF Nations League final didn’t renew his contract with Club Brugge, as he will be playing in the Championship this season.

Ethan Horvath has completed his move to Nottingham Forest. He will be playing in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league, for the next three seasons. The United States international joins Forest as a free agent as he didn’t renew his contract with Club Brugge.

"We are delighted to be signing somebody of Ethan's caliber," Forest manager Chris Hughton said in a team statement. "He has plenty of valuable experience in Europe with clubs of good pedigree and in European competition. He will give us valuable competition in the goalkeeping department and we look forward to working with Ethan."

The latest American hero

Now Ethan Horvath, who was key for the US Men’s team in the Nations League final, will compete with Brice Samba for a starting role. Samba has been the starting goalkeeper for the last two seasons.

The USMNT goalkeeper has served as a backup for the majority of his professional career. Horvath has only four league starts, two domestic cup starts and one Champions League start under his belt. For two campaigns he was behind Simon Mignolet at Club Brugge.
