Evening Standard: Mainoo expected to return this weekend, other MU injured players remain sidelined

After Manchester United's loss to AFC Bournemouth this weekend, the team's morale remains low, with no wins in their last eight matches. The medical room is full of injured players, limiting the squad's depth during this period.

Bournemouth's goals gave the Red Devils a terrible Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford, but at least the home team didn't suffer any new injuries in this match.

However, the long-term absences of Luke Shaw, Rashford, and Mainoo have clearly hampered the team.

Manchester United will have a chance to get their season back on track next weekend away at Chelsea, and the club hopes to have a stronger squad available for that match.

Here are Manchester United's latest injury updates and return times:

Rashford missed Manchester United's away match against Como due to a hip problem.

"Rashford's hip problem is not fully resolved yet, and we are trying to overcome it," Carrick revealed before the match.

He was an unused substitute against Leeds United last week and didn't even make the squad for the AFC Bournemouth match.

It is still unclear when he will return to action.

Mainoo has missed Manchester United's last four games due to a muscle problem.

There has been little update on his injury since he missed training before the Atlético Madrid match.

However, before the loss to Como, Carrick confirmed that Mainoo would be out for "about another 10 days."

If this timetable is accurate, he could be in contention for the squad away at Chelsea this weekend.

After Luke Shaw's unexpected absence, the left-back position was forced to be adjusted, with Ayden Heaven, Dalot, and Mazraoui all filling in.

Although little is known about Luke Shaw's injury, he was still absent when AFC Bournemouth visited Old Trafford. Carrick said his absence is expected to be longer than Mainoo's.

Patrick Dorgu started for Denmark in the UEFA Nations League against Wales last month but limped off after 30 minutes with a hamstring injury.

He immediately returned to Carrington for examination, and Carrick does not seem to think he will be back in contention soon.

Carrick said before the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur: "It looks like he will be out for a few weeks."

Benjamin Šeško is once again out with a shin injury, an injury that prematurely ended his 2024/25 season and delayed his appearance this season.

After playing against Hull City, Ipswich Town, Everton, Sabah, Manchester City, and Brighton & Hove Albion, he seemed to be back to his best, but he was left out of the squad away at Fulham and has since missed the last three matches after the international break.

Carrick insisted before the Leeds United match that it was too early to set a return date for the striker, and it is still unclear when he will be back.

Ugarte has not played a minute for Manchester United this season, as his summer preparations were cut short by a ligament injury while representing Uruguay.

The midfielder was stretchered off during Uruguay's 1-0 group stage loss to Spain and is not expected to return until early 2025.
