Everton face wrath of supporters as angry protesters descend on training ground

Everton faced the wrath of their supporters tonight as angry protesters descended on their Finch Farm training base.

The club's failure to sign a striker during the transfer window has left fans at their wit's end and from 7pm onwards, a group came down to vent their frustration at the way things have been conducted. Some had banners, others simply stood numb in the cold.

Owner Farhad Moshiri had promised in a video recorded on January 19 that Everton would "sign a striker" but despite looking at a number of options, there was still no sign of the new face they so desperately need arriving.

New manager Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell, the club's Director of Football, were still at the facility at 9.20pm, hoping to find a solution for a team that has only scored two goals or more twice in the 20 Premier League games they have played this season.

Everton also made a late attempt to sign French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta from Palace.

It has been one of the most rancorous periods in the club's history and the fact they were the only club not to buy a player during the winter window will do little to ease the tension for Everton, who face Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday.
