Everton retain an interest in signing Gremio star Everton Soares before the transfer window closes, according to Brazilian outlet UOL.

The Toffees have reportedly been keeping tabs on the Brazil forward, who has 14 caps and three goals for his country, for some time.

Speculation about a move for the 23-year-old had died down recently, but UOL claim that Everton is still an option for Carlo Ancelotti this month.

The new report says that club officials recently held a transfer meeting, in which it was agreed that a deal for the striker, who is also said to be a target for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, was still a possibility.

Last week Gremio revealed that there had been no concrete offers for their star man, despite talk of a big money move to Goodison Park.

'Everton at Everton is a situation that is coming up more intensely,' executive director Klauss Camara told Correio do Povo.

'But there's no presented offer. In recent months, he's been linked to several giants in Europe, but nothing concrete.'

Everton has scored 47 goals and provided 16 assists in 177 games for Gremio since making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2014.

He hit the headlines last summer by winning the Golden Boot at the Copa America as Brazil won the tournament on home soil.
