Everton have suspended their long serving head of academy recruitment Martin Waldron.
Staff were told of the move at a meeting at the Premier League club this week.
The decision comes after news last week that Everton are being investigated by the Premier League for allegedly breaking rules on the approaching of young players.
The club are alleged to have 'tapped up' a young player at Cardiff City.
A letter sent to the Premier League alleges that Waldron approached the boy and his family when he was around 11 or 12 years old. The boy never moved to the Merseyside club and is now at Manchester United.
Waldron has worked for Everton for 23 years, starting out as a scout before progressing up the ladder at Goodison Park.
Last night Waldron put the phone down when asked for comment on his suspension.
Everton said they did not wish to add further to the statement released last week that said they would co-operate fully with the Premier League investigation.

What is happening to our beloved club. We seem to have lost our morals. Tapping up managers, poaching kids and 4 managers in 2 years under Moshiri. Sir John Moores must be turning in his grave.

Yes, Everton are struggling at the minute - actually we've been struggling for 30 years, but one unbalanced, unhinged and somewhat unstable victim has contributed 20 comments on this article.

I saw this happening when i was a 16 year old schoolby in 1968. This guy got caught, his club suspended him. They had to. I'll bet he brought in more good players by his methods than by sticking to the rules.....and Everton know that.
