Leighton Baines is reportedly keen to sign a new one-year deal at Everton, shunning interest from the MLS.
The Toffees left back has been at the club for 13 years yet has been usurped by Lucas Digne this season.
Yet despite making just six appearances in all competitions, the 35-year-old 'leaning towards signing on for another year' at the wish of manager Carlo Ancelotti, according to The Athletic.
'Don't stop playing. Stay with us for the next year,' Ancelotti said of Baines.
'We would like to keep him and are going to talk with him. It would be good for us if he can stay.
'Physically, he has no problem. It depends on what he is thinking and whether he wants to continue.
'I think he wants to continue but it is his decision.'
Last summer, Baines was linked with a move to LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC, and a transfer stateside could well be an option for the 35-year-old in the future - but not as soon as this year.
The report details that with Baines' children all in school on Merseyside, the former England international is 'unlikely even to consider a move to another Premier League club.'
The ex-Wigan defender has struggled for minutes this season, starting just four matches though he did play 90 minutes against Arsenal on February 23 and Man United on March 1.
Despite his lack of matches, he is just 10 league games away from overtaking Tim Howard as Everton's most capped player in the Premier League.
