Mauricio Pochettino faced the media following Chelsea's win over Brighton and spoke about Levi Colwill, Reece James, Nicolas Jackson and what he wants from the Blues' transfers

Great entertainment for fans?

We are happy for the fans that they enjoy a great game. Of course, never happy a coach when conceding goals and then goals that is normal because it is the beginning only two weeks and a half, nearly three weeks. We need to work a lot to evolve in our different areas of the team but I am happy. I see many positive things, I am so happy with the attitude of the players, the staff, we are showing great attitude and energy against a team that was doing a fantastic job last season and is difficult always to play but I think I am so happy. I am so happy in the balance of these two weeks and a half. We know that we need to work a lot and still to continue to improve. Certain principles, we start to see things which are very important for us.

Pleased to see Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk score?

Of course, for Jackson for Mudryk it is important to score, for Nkunku also. I think players, attacking players need to score and they need to get their confidence and trust in theirself. Always it is important to score goals and then of course, we are going to try to improve because I think today with a little bit more capacity to stay calm maybe we can create more chances and score more goals. We know the area that we need to work, we are going to be focusing work, take time. We need to believe and to trust in the process to arrive to the first Premier League game in the best condition.

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson after a good end to the season, some people maybe thought he was not high level, but he has already shown that now?

I think when Chelsea sign a player like him it's because Chelsea detect something important in quality and talent. It's right what you say about last season but he finished playing really well. He is a big talent, he needs time to adapt to the new club, the Premier League. This type of game is important to him to feel what it means to play in the Premier League. He has big talent, is young also and for sure we need to help him to develop and evolve and improve and to be an important player for Chelsea in the future, not only in the future.

Can you talk about the experience of playing in Philadelphia?

Amazing experience always. To play here in USA is amazing, the fans are unbelievable. Yes, I love to play here in USA.

Can you see a time where Christopher Nkunku plays as a 10 and maybe Jackson plays in front of him?

For sure we will arrive in the next few games at the possibility to play them together. It is that the circumstance of the physical condition mean we need to use both to share the minutes.

A problem in the past is if a Chelsea youngster has a bad game, they're out and don't tend to get a run. How important is it for you that you can give some of these players a run?

It is about the project, it is about building a squad with the possibility to give the space that they deserve or the space that we believe they deserve. Then it's about numbers, if you have a big squad with 30 senior players, it's difficult for the young guys to get a place. It's important if we detect that they can use the space we want to create for them, of course we are going to give them equality. We need to understand also we are in Chelsea. Chelsea is to win, it's not about developing player. Of course, we are going to have few numbers of places for them with the possibility and potential to be a senior footballer in this football club. We need to be careful because people expect to win, when you play for Chelsea it's about winning, it's not about playing good football only. Yes we have many young but we need some experienced players also. We are working really hard to add some players that can help this year also but help today and try to get what we want. In my side, and for my side I think I would love to have these places for them to help them, if we see the potential to arrive as a senior player for Chelsea.

In the build up you maybe downplayed whether Levi Colwill to start, why did you start him and was any of it making a statement to Brighton?

I don't know if we are going to share many press conference but to be honest I don't like your personal opinion, because if I am here it's to give my opinio and you need to keep your idea. I think Levi has few days, I think he is nearly fit, of course why we play with him because we need to share minutes with different players and I think he is in a good form. I didn't understand too much your opinon but we don't need to show anything or make a statement He is our player and he is going to continue with us. I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it is only the first game with us after the season with Brighton. I am so happy, he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England.

Still no Reece James or Noni Madueke, is that just where they're at in their development at the moment?

You will see all of the players to play in this tournament and in pre-season. We arrived two-weeks-and-a-half ago and we need to feel all of the players and have the chance to play. Now is the opportunity. If they are here it's because we want to see them and how they are going not only in training and to compete. That is a massive opportunity and now Fulham and then Newcastle and Dortmund. Of course, no worries, you will see all the players to play.

They're still building fitness?

Of course, Reece arrived two days ago and today was a big risk, I told you in the press conference yesterday, big risk for what? He is training hard, if we believe he is ready to play for Wednesday, for sure he is going to play.

Anyway you would accept Levi leaving?

No, I think the situation is clear and nothing to say about that. It is so clear, he is our player and we are happy with him and of course he is going to be part of our team.
