Patrice Evra has opened up on Luis Suarez racially abusing him ahead of the release of his autobiography later this month.
The then- Liverpool striker was banned for eight matches and issued with a £40k fine after he was charged with "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour contrary to FA rules" having been found guilty by a three-man panel from the FA of racially abusing the former Manchester United defender back in October 2011.
The Uruguayan then prompted further controversy in February 2012 when the sides next met by declining to shake Evra’s hand during the pre-game handshakes at Old Trafford.
Ahead of his autobiography being released, in which the Frenchman shockingly reveals he was sexually abused by a former teacher when a teenager, he has spoken to the Times with the national newspaper serialising his book.
And Evra revealed he doesn’t hate Suarez when admitting he cannot label the 34-year-old a racist despite their heated history.
“I don’t know him close enough to call him a racist,” he says. “I know he used some racist words, I know when it was the moment to make peace, he didn’t. But when we [Juventus] played Barcelona in the Champions League Final [in 2015], he shakes my hand and I shake his hand.
“Hate will never be in my heart. I don’t hate the teacher that abused me. That’s the crazy part of it.
“If you want to be racist, this is your choice. Is it going to make you happier? Instead of blaming racists, I want to understand where they are coming from. No-one is born a racist. It’s about education. Maybe they have been traumatized. We should talk with them.
“I don’t think we make big steps because we are forgetting about education. Every week in football we have more incidents, maybe because when you blame them, they become more hyper. If I ban you because you are racist you will never change, but someone needs to try to understand why you are racist.”
Evra also shared details of his ongoing feud with France World Cup winner Lillian Thuram, revealing he refused to speak to his compatriot after he reached out to him following Suarez racially abusing due to previous comments following the 2010 World Cup.
“I call him (Thuram) Malcolm Z. I hate those people pretending they are someone they are not,” Evra said. “This player makes me really angry.
“I had so much respect for the generation who won the World Cup in ‘98. But even before the French Football Federation decided what they are going to do [after the 2010 World Cup] Malcom Z said Patrice deserved to not wear the France shirt anymore.
“I asked Thierry Henry for his number, and I called him and say if he speaks like that, he should speak to me, but he never called me back.
“When he asked for my number after [the] Suarez [racism incident] and said maybe I wanted to talk about racism, I said no.
“He had pressed the button so that France needs the guillotine for Patrice.”

this player is very stupid and he is already done nobody remember him but how he need to promote n sell his book he is bringing things back....since I know in Uruguay they are a lot of blacks and that is b4 Evra get born ...to say "negro"=black is normal ..it isn't an offence ..that problem is mental ....I was in Uruguay 2 times in 1988 and 1989 and isn't rascism there ...I can say to any black person "negro" someone who I don't know and that person doesn't get offended because there self-esteem is high ..they got no problem like in Peru or Colombia and many of southamericans countries but it look that Evra got offended that time and accuse Suarez ...I stay in Africa now and here people are really rascist here even between themselfs black to black...they make differents... they can't until now overpass the things that happened long ago ...they are still leaving the past
black people can't be racist please check definition again. also because negro is "accepted" in Uruguay doesn't mean it's accepted or should be everwhere.

We Africans or black folks hate the truth. Thuram was right because Evra, Anelka and others just disgraced themselves and the French team at the 2010 WC. He is not able to accept the fact that he messed up. A typical sub-Saharan African.

If Cristiano Ronaldo invites you over for lunch, just say no, because you going there to train. So that's why I would recommend to anyone when Cristiano invite you to his house, don't go. Just say no because this guy, he's a machine, he doesn't want to stop training."
