Ex-Man City stars teased over 114 Premier League charges as medals demanded back

Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League charges brought against them with a number of their ex-players having spoken out in the aftermath

Gabby Agbonlahor has pulled no punches after Manchester City’s guilty verdict by jokingly asking a handful of his old team-mates to hand back their medals.

The Premier League side were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against them last week. City - on their part - remain staunch in their innocence and are expected to appeal any guilty verdict. A punishment in the meantime has also not been confirmed, albeit a points deduction, a fine and even relegation has not been ruled out.

Former Aston Villa star Agbonlahor has spoken out and revealed that he has been in touch with a number of the club’s former stars to tease them over the news.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "I have even been throwing a bit of banter out there to Joleon Lescott. I told him that the medal has got to come back.

"I messaged Meeks as well [Richards], Barry - all of that era. I have been telling them that I'll come and grab the medals and hide them before the Premier League knock on the door. But they took it well."

Agbonlahor’s cheeky dig is not the first time that he has spoken out on City’s charges. Having played in the same era, he has suggested a considerable fine could potentially be on the way.

Speaking earlier this week, he said: “I played in that era, 2009-2018, we got relegated in 2015, six seasons, I played in it. You know what they did in 2009? They took our best player, Gareth Barry. You know what they did in 2010? They took our best player James Milner.

“You know what they did in 2015? Took our best player Fabian Delph. As a Villa fan, or even as a Villa player in that era, [Man City] have taken our best player. We've gone to the Etihad and got some spankings from Yaya Toure, [Sergio] Aguero, David Silva.

“Where do they get the money to buy these players? So every team will look at it and if I'm all these teams ‘Get your lawyers ready, let's go, we want paying’.

“What if you have missed out on Champions League qualification? What if you missed out on relegation, what if you have missed out on winning league titles, every league position you miss out on is a few million pounds, isn't it? All the money that Man City might have to pay to these clubs – off the scale.”
