Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker believes that Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward must be 'held responsible' for the club's current plight.
As has been common place during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign at United, a week of promising results was once again followed by disappointment on Sunday.
United were defeated 2-0 by the Premier League's bottom club Watford after yet another match in which they were unable to break down a team that were happy to sit deep and defend.
The result has seen United slip back down to eighth in the table and they now have the same number of points as Boxing Day's opponents Newcastle United.
United have managed to win just a third of their league games this season and Parker has pointed the finger of blame in Woodward's direction.
“If they were to need to get a new manager, it would be his fault as the person he employed to manage the team, has not worked out. He has to be held responsible for the people he is bringing in," Parker told Betoclock.
“With every business you need structure to be able to function but United don't have one at the moment. They are being used more as a bank than a football club.
“The structure of how the club is run needs to change first and then you can look to bring a new manager in. Sir Alex Ferguson managed the club and the team, so it worked for him. At the moment, there is no cohesion between the club, the coaches and the team upstairs working doing the business.
“I would say this is the worst United team in the Premier League era. The deterioration from 2013 has just been really poor. They have only won three trophies since then and if something does not change ASAP, things will only get worse for the club.”

Not jst Woodward. I think what Man Utd really needs is a change of ownership. The Glazers have to transfer ownership to a more serious minded investor. Until these ppl r off the club Man Utd ain't going nowhere!

Why r we keep blaming others for the team poor performance. Its not like they r the ones who put on the boots and play. The players just didn't turn up for the Watford match. You can't really blame ole here can. nobody coach their team to mispass, coach his GK to fumble a weak shot or to sky an attempt when put thru 1 in 1. Woodward has given opportunities to reputed managers like van gaal and mourinho. When you get out into the society to work. You pass your interview but perform poorly when you r hired, blame your manager for hiring you? Not giving you more time? Or bcos your job performance is not as expected.? My point is the owners own utd and they have the right to sell or to keep. If fans can't stay onside with the team, they had better change to support another. I am fine with ole. We all agree utd is in rebuild and no one is expecting a league title in the near future though we mostly hope utd wins a cup and get into top 4. Just continue to support as real fans. 👍
