Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has claimed VAR made the right decision not to send off Steve Cook for his challenge on Marcus Rashford.
The Bournemouth captain was cautioned for a robust challenge on the Manchester United forward in the second half.
Cook went on to earn a host of plaudits for his dominant defensive display after the Cherries came out 1-0 winners.
However, former United defender Rio Ferdinand and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole were adamant that Cook was " fortunate" not to see red for his forceful challenge on Rashford.
However, Gallagher has admitted he agrees with the decision of the referee and VAR to only award a yellow card.
The ex-Premier League official cited the lack of major contact on Rashford and the height of the challenge as reasons it was not red, although did admit the challenge looked worse from certain angles.
Speaking on Sky Sports News Ref Watch, Gallagher said: “I think this looks worse here. If you look at it from the other side of the pitch, he's very low and only catches him on the side of the foot.
"Once a yellow card is out, the VAR can say don't restart, I want to check it, they did check it and the conclusion was a yellow card, not a red card.”
Similarly, Gallagher was in agreement with two other big penalty decision at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth appealed for a penalty for Ashley Young's challenge on Ryan Fraser, whilst Anthony Martial was sent tumbling after a collision in the first half.
“I think no foul. He pulls out and Fraser actually handles the ball, for me no foul," Gallagher explained.
On the Martial challenge, he added: “I think no foul again. I think there's a coming together, no foul. The referee did well. You look at that and it's two players coming together, isn't it?
"If you look at those two players, they both impact together. One stays on his feet, the forward doesn't. The referee has to make that judgement but for me, no foul.”

Well VAR has been doing what it's intended for perfectly, but the issue is it's the same error prone refs that are still behind reading the game. They've been really poor in the use of an effective technology making it seem useless.

VAR is just making us loose interest in supporting football, if u couldn't give t to Cook, then y did the referee give t to Son yet VAR was present

get a conditioning coach...an attack coach and a defensive coach to make these young boys tough. it seems like all the experiences of playing is not helping.

Why commentators listen to Gallagher it doesn't know the foul I know his foul is the one you bleeding or fracture otherwise the one for Martial is clearly fouls, and even Ashley Young I believe it should, so Cook is deserved the red card, ok simple why why Lindelof was given s yellow card if it was not foul, please being analyst say truth such others fans benefit, but don't give your comments base of whom you support, not agree with you all
