Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici had his 30-month football suspension expanded worldwide by FIFA and has now left his position at the club with immediate effect

A statement from Spurs chariman Daniel Levy read: “This has been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to ensure that we allowed for due process to be followed. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football - we wish him well.

“As outlined in our year end results, we started several months ago to restructure our football operations and last week announced the appointment of Scott Munn as chief football officer to head up all the departments. We shall continue to strengthen our football functions over the coming months.”

The Tottenham director of football was implicated for his role in former club Juventus' alleged financial mismanagement, leading to suspensions being handed down to a number of key officials. The punishment also included a 15-point deduction for the Italian giants in January at the conclusion of the long-running Prisma investigation that ended with a hearing at Italy's federal court of appeal.

However, in a further development on Thursday, Juve won their appeal and had their docked 15 points reinstated, taking them back up to third in the Serie A table.

Paratici, along with Andrea Agnelli and Federico Cherubini, had their bans upheld, although the appeals of Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti and Enrico Vellano were accepted.

It is unclear whether there is a further stage to Paratici's appeal against his ban.

A previous FIFA statement read: “FIFA can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of FIFA disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.”

Now, Paratici has left his role with Spurs just weeks after Antonio Conte was sacked as manager as the club continues to be thrown into chaos towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

This is a developing news story that will be updated with relevant information as we get it. More to follow...
