Mendy's deal will run to 2025 and the 21-year-old will provide backup and competition to Marcelo.
As such, the club directors will have to work on the exits of the other left-backs Sergio Reguilon and Theo Hernandez, with the former potentially to go out on loan and the latter looking for a permanent move.

I can vouch for Mendy. I watch Ligue 1 and the national team. He's quite good at defending and kind of an all rounder defender. He can attack, defend. His crossing is alright I wouldn't say exceptional though.

Well his best attributes are probably his passing and dribbling. He's not afraid to take on a player. He can hold up the ball too since he's pretty strong. He long balls a lot.
