Fiery Fred makes a decent introduction to Manchester United

Paul Pogba put in a real captain's display against Leicester as Manchester United eased past Claude Puel's side on Friday evening.

Pogba scored from the spot after just three minutes before Luke Shaw doubled the lead with his first senior goal. Jamie Vardy grabbed a consolation but United held on for the win.

But how did the new boys fare as they got their first taste of Premier League action?

Sportsmail assesses the performance of all the new signings on show as Mourinho's men put their disastrous pre-season behind them to make a winning start.

Fred

Made a decent introduction to the Premier League. Was comfortable in possession and kept things neat and tidy in the middle of the park.

Jose Mourinho had to calm him down from the touchline at one point during the second half after Fred's fiery side came out and earned him a booking for clashing with James Maddison. Was substituted off 13 minutes from time.

James Maddison

There were doubts Maddison could make the step up to the Premier League, but he looked at home and linked up well with his Leicester team-mates.

Wasted a few set pieces but was a bright spark in the midfield. Forced David de Gea to make a terrific save in the first half before being substituted off for Jamie Vardy shortly after the hour mark.

6.5/10

Ricardo Pereira

Was quiet for most of the game with Leicester's main threat coming down the other flank. Threatened Luke Shaw at times with his pace, but made no real impact on the match.

He looked uncomfortable playing high up the pitch and will most likely replace Daniel Amartey at right-back for Leicester's next match.

5/10

Rachid Ghezzal

Dubbed the man to replace Riyad Mahrez, but no indication as of yet if he will be up to the task.

Only got 30 minutes here off the bench and struggled to impose himself on the game.
