Firmino is driven in to training after impressive win over PSG

There's no time to rest for Liverpool as they returned to training in Melwood following their thrilling 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain last night.

They couldn't have asked for a better start to this season's European campaign after Roberto Firmino came off the bench to score a last-gasp winner, collecting the ball outside the area before driving into the box and shooting across goal into the bottom corner.

The Brazilian forward almost missed the match entirely with an eye injury after Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen poked him in the eye last weekend.

Firmino made light of the injury, jokingly covering up one eye while celebrating while celebrating his emphatic winner.

Jurgen Klopp admitted on Monday that he didn't think the Brazilian had much chance of playing but the forward proved him wrong.

Sadio Mane on the other hand was confident in his teammate, texting Firmino before the game that the team needed him and was good enough with one eye.

The Reds will be hoping to build momentum in Europe with their next Champions League match being a trip to Napoli. If they can win that game too, they;ll have a very good chance of escaping and potentially topping their group.

But for now, Liverpool will be busy preparing for the Premier League as they welcome Southampton to Anfield at 3pm on Saturday.

Liverpool and Chelsea are the only teams left in the Premier League who have won all of their matches as Manchester City have drawn with Wolves and Watford lost to Manchester United.

The Reds will be hoping to make it six wins on the trot. With Southampton struggling in the bottom half with only one win, the Merseyside club will be confident of maintaining their streak.
