Roberto Firmino's father passed away on Saturday night during a family trip to Dubai.

José Roberto Cordeiro de Oliveira, 62, suffered a heart attack. The family is still trying to contact the Brazilian embassy in the country to bring back his body to Maceió, the family's home city.

Close friends and Firmino's press manager have confirmed the information to Brazilian news outlet UOL.

'He was a very good guy,' said one friend of the family. 'He had a very good soul and was very funny. This was very unexpected.'

Firmino saw his father as a hero, as he wrote in his biography 'Si Señor - My Liverpool Years'.

'Not all heroes wear capes; some are called Dad. My father, José, was my childhood hero, an inspiration and an example. A generous, serious, honest man dedicated to the family.'

Larissa Pereira, Firmino's wife, posted some pictures and videos with her father-in-law. 'Thank you for this moment, Lord', she wrote.

CRB, Firmino's first club, also wrote a message to José Cordeiro, who was very happy to see his son playing there.
