Five reasons Cristiano Ronaldo WILL stay at Juventus

Despite rumours of a return to Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus live a marriage destined to last at least until 2024.

The tremendous economic crisis caused by coronavirus has tested Ronaldo's love for the Turin club. He has had to renounce more than €10million (£8.7m) in salary for the 2019-20 season, but the club hope to extend his contract for another two years until 2024, offering an overall bonus to return over time the salary reduction of this season.

Here are five fundamental reasons that will push Ronaldo to stay at Juventus, the club which he is extremely fond of.

1 - ANDREA AGNELLI

The first reason that prevents Ronaldo from leaving Turin is the president of Juventus. Agnelli is a man much loved by Ronaldo for his correctness, generosity and friendship.

For Ronaldo everything the Italian club has done to bring him to Italy is wonderful. The Portuguese superstar appreciated the desire of Agnelli to fly to Greece only two summers ago, where the player was on vacation, to go and communicate to him the positives of ending his time with Real Madrid.

Unlike in Madrid, in Turin Ronaldo feels he is treated like the best player in the world, the only totem unattainable for others. Agnelli and Ronaldo are often together far from prying eyes to spend relaxing moments at the home of the Juventus president. The friendship is greatly appreciated by Ronaldo, who did not have a strong relationship with Real president Florentino Perez.

2 - MONEY

Ronaldo receives more from earnings from social media sponsorships than any other footballer in the world. His official Instagram and Twitter accounts record significant revenues and are a fundamental asset in the footballer's portfolio. Ronaldo has exceeded 213 million followers on Instagram: an audience through which he can increase the personal gains and popularity of Juventus. Some post-summer 2018 sponsorships allowed Juventus a concrete indirect gain. The club renewed their contract with Adidas, making them the only Italian club to use the German label.

As Corriere della Sera reminds us, in Italy, thanks to an assistance from our tax system, Ronaldo will not have to worry about the excessive taxes paid in Spain. On revenues from image rights, he will pay only €100,000 (£87m) thanks to the tax residents regulation introduced by the Italian stability law of 2017 on foreign income deriving from real estate investments, dividends and earnings through financial transactions.

3 - EQUAL SEEDORF'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RECORD

The only footballer to have won Champions League titles with three different clubs is Clarence Seedorf, who lifted the trophy with Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan.

The will of Ronaldo is to equal the record of the Dutch footballer originally from Suriname. At Juventus this would be possible after winning the Champions League with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

This new record would allow him to dramatically increase his stake in his rivalry with Lionel Messi, proving to be a globetrotting champion in the three main European leagues: Premier League, LaLiga and Serie A.

4 - LOVE FOR TURIN

Ronaldo lives in an exclusive double villa on the first hill behind the Gran Madre church, from which he enjoys a breathtaking view of the Mole Antonelliana and the beauties of the city. In the villa he has two garages, private access, two gyms and Hollywood comforts.

Ronaldo loves Turin, a city that lives without excesses. He often walks in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and in the streets of the centre, he often goes out to dinner with his whole family and friends. He loves the restaurant La Credenza in San Maurizio Canavese, just outside the city. As a pizzeria he loves Sesto Gusto by chef Massimiliano Prete. A positive aspect is that he can eat in the crowd without being disturbed by anyone, something impossible in Madrid.

5 - LEADERSHIP ROLE

Some rumours tell of how Cristiano Ronaldo suffered from the charismatic presence of Mario Mandzukic in the dressing room. The Croatian had a kind of throne in the locker room at a strategic point from which to speak, loud and clear, to his team-mates. But Mandzukic's farewell last summer opened the doors to a new unique role of guru within the four walls of the dressing room, which has become dependent on the words of Ronaldo, Giorgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon.
