French defender Florian Lejeune has rejoined Alaves on a permanent deal from Newcastle, the Premier League club have confirmed.
The 30-year-old returns to the Spanish outfit after a successful season-long loan last term, in which he made 26 appearances in all competitions.
Lejeune joined Newcastle in an £8.7million deal from Eibar in 2017 but was hampered by two serious knee injuries during his time at the club.
He made 46 appearances for the club in all competitions and is the Premier League side's fourth departure this summer, after Christian Atsu, Andy Carroll and Henri Saivet all left St James' Park.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce revealed earlier this week that the Frenchman was in talks with the LaLiga side, adding that the move would be sanctioned if it is in the best interests of the out-of-favour defender.
'He's having talks with the club in Spain where he was on loan last season,' Bruce said. 'There could be something happening there. If it's going to be right for Flo, we wish him the best of luck.'
