Barcelona are still trying to sign a left winger this summer after missing out on Nico Williams, and being priced out of a deal for Luis Diaz. The latest to be linked to the Blaugrana is AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
Several sources in Spain have said that Barcelona have been in contact with agent Jorge Mendes about a deal. The Portuguese would be a key factor in any negotiations, and El Chiringuito have stated a deal could be agreed around €90m, and Mendes’ presence opens the door to Barcelona. Leao is reportedly open to the move.
This does not tally with the information coming out of Italy, where it has been said that AC Milan will only accept his €175m release clause. MD are one of the sources that reported on Sporting Director Deco sounding out a move, and they explain that the reason behind their interest in Leao is not strictly down to needs in the squad.
As was the case with Williams, President Joan Laporta is keen to bring in a star signing this summer to excite the fans, in order to ensure there are good attendances at both Montjuic and then the reduced capacity Camp Nou. It is also a response to Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappe, and apparently, Dani Olmo does not fit the bill as a star signing.
Cynics may suggest it is part of a smoke and mirrors game to distract from Barcelona’s dire financial situation, where once again they are struggling to register players with the season already underway. It has been a key part of Laporta’s strategy since he arrived at Barcelona though, but these days the finances to make those attention-grabbing additions are not always there.

Barcelona Is The 3rd Most Richest Club In The World According To Forbes But The New Rule In La Liga (1:1 Fair Play) States That Teams Must Spend Within A Certain Salary Wage Bill Else Can’t Partake In La Liga. What’s The Sense Is Signing Players & Can’t Register Them When Your Wage Bill Already Exceeds The Rule? That’s The Problem With Barcelona & It’s All Because Of Old President Bartomeu & His Fellow Sporting Director Who Put Some Players Back Then On Huge Wages Before Leaving The Club 🤦♂️💔

This topic is nonsense … talking about winger who is overrated and they ask for 90m … Olmo was star who shined during the Euro24 even better than Mbappe

It seems like FC Barcelona has made it mandatory this transfer moment to sign a player with dreadlocks. It started with Nico Williams, now Rafa Leao. Me: let them come and sign me at a lesser cost instead

Barcelona: We don’t have money but we want to sign a star player as a response to Madrid signing Mbappe. Confused ? I am too
So the financial problems of Barcelona is not anoit the wage bill. The salary cap ceiling is determined by the gap between a team's earnings and non-sporting expenses and debt repayments. So the financial issue is from the debt repayment. So little scenario for you, if your account balance has $1billion and you have a $2billion debt, would you consider that as having money ? Because you can spend it quite alright, but are the earnings generated enough to indicate timely repayment of debt ?

Honestly, Real Madrid are the best when it comes to scouting and Club Management! Barcelona is trash when it comes to scouting for new players! The management is pathetic. I hate it when my club is down to the gutters, but it is what it is! Hoping for miracles this season, hopefully we'll remain in the top 4.
