South American football expert Tim Vickery was a guest on Sky Sports News, and predicted that Tottenham face a long hard summer of negotiations with Real Betis, if they are to prise Giovani Lo Celso away from the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Spurs had a £53 million bid rejected for the Argentine earlier this summer, according to BBC Sport, with Betis thought to be holding out for closer to €100 million (£90 million).

Tottenham are currently in the midst of negotiations with Lyon regarding the potential signing of Tanguy Ndombele, according to Sky Sports, so any move for Lo Celso, 23, will likely have be put on the back-burner for now.

And Vickery suggested that if Spurs hope to sign the talented Argentine midfield ace, they will have to pay a fairly substantial transfer fee for his services, when speaking to Sky Sports News:

"They'll have to pay for him, Betis paid out to acquire him in order to make a big profit on him, so there'll be some long, hot summer negotiations going on with that one, but he would be a good fit for Tottenham."

Lo Celso is a real talent, but for Tottenham to be able to afford him and Ndombele, they will surely need to sell Christian Eriksen, as well as some other fringe players this summer.

And with the Dane entering the final year of his contract with Spurs, selling him whilst bringing in the Argentine and the Frenchman would be really impressive work from Daniel Levy.
