A former footballer is being investigated by an animal welfare charity over claims he killed and ate an iguana.
Ex-Hamilton Academical and Trinidad & Tobago striker Richard Roy appeared in a photograph holding a dead lizard by the tail above a kitchen sink.
The shocking image was posted on his wife Cheryl's Facebook page and is believed to have been taken at a house in Dundee.
Roy has got six caps for Trinidad & Tobago, where iguana meat is considered a delicacy. It is often served as a special treat at festivals.
The shocking image of the dead iguana was posted on his wife Cheryl's Facebook page and is believed to have been taken at a house in Dundee.
The post sparked a furious backlash after she said that her husband would be eating it later.
Cheryl hit back: 'People need to mind their own damn business. Far too many people having a lot to say about other people's lives.
'If you don't like how I live my life, remove yourself, please.'
One user told the Daily Record that Cheryl had removed all of the critical comments alongside her post.

Roy, 31, signed for Hamilton on a four-month contract in August 2016.
He made just two appearances and left in January 2017. Later that year he signed for Indian side NEROCA.
It is unclear where he's playing now.
Cheryl, a PA at a care home, told the paper that the photo was a 'joke' and said she had removed it from her Facebook page after the barrage of complaints.
Cheryl (pictured with her husband) insisted that the photo was a 'joke' and said she had removed it from her Facebook page after the barrage of complaints
She said: 'If they were upset and if they had said that to me straight away themselves I would have deleted it straight away.
'Whoever it is that's hiding behind this is not very nice.'
Last night, the Scottish SPCA confirmed they have been made aware of the photograph and a specialist team of officers is now investigating.

First off, for the stupid people saying “it’s a delicacy in africa”, please shut up. Trinidad is NOT an African country. And 2 for the stupid people that are “outraged”, jump off a cliff. What that guy did is no different from you eating a chicken. Or eating snakes. Or scorpions. It’s he’s culture. As much as he doesn’t cus harm to he’s fellow man and he’s not killing it for fun or sport, let him nourish himself. The outrage culture is really irritating.

it's cruelty against animals and it's the duty of every civilised people to denounce it. so just tell this lady and shut . she thinks she can commit any crime she wants if she is in her house. so beware lady you are not in Trinidad.

@Amirrezart.. Maybe its usual to eat that in Africa? Plz don't insult us.. I'm African and I dare you to come here as we have the best healthy food you ever ate, not these vaccinated vegetables and fruits that is killing you from cancers and tumors.. Come here mate.. Prawns, lobster, crab, squids, various types of fish.. I bet you never saw it fresh and alive then have the pleasure of fish it yourself and take home..

It's a delicacy in Africa , you guys want to make this endangered species too , then add hogs and cattle and all to it , what's this discrimination. When you couldn't grow weed it was illegal , now it is not. This is racial to an extent
