Former Aston Villa and England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has confirmed he has retired from football.
Agbonlahor bows out of the game aged 32 after failing to secure a move to another club following his release from Villa last summer.
The forward spent 18 years playing for Villa and is the club's all-time top Premier League goalscorer, but he was shown the door at the end of last season after the club opted against renewing his deal.
Agbonlahor, who earned three caps for England between 2008-09, had been working hard to improve his fitness in an attempt to find another club but has now decided to call time on his career.
Speaking to Free Radio at the Pride of Birmingham Awards he said: 'I haven't made a big deal about it, by posting anything on social media about retiring, but no that's me done.'
The academy graduate played nearly 400 times for Villa scoring 86 goals and made his final appearance for the club against Sheffield United back in December 2017.
Agbonlahor also had brief loan stints at Watford and Sheffield Wednesday during his career.
A number of Agbonlahor's former team-mates took to social media to congratulate him on his career with the likes of Jack Grealish, Fabian Delph, Stephen Warnock and Alan Hutton all posting tributes.
Delph posted a particularity touching message, writing: 'It was a honour to have shared so many amazing moments with you brother.
'One of the best players I've played with. A true legend on and off the pitch. Happy retirement brother.'
Boyhood Villa fan Agbonlahor also went on to add that he believes the current crop are capable of winning promotion to the Premier League this season with Dean Smith's men occupying the last play-off place at the moment.
He added: 'The way they are playing at the moment, you know they are flying. I think if you ask every Villa fan they're buzzing at the moment about the team and their chances of promotion.
'The whole team's playing with confidence and everything's exciting. The Villa fans have been good with the team, the players have been playing really well at the moment.
'I think personally, we've got the squad that's capable of coming up.'

He was pacey and decent! Only 32? Forgotten man. He's not too greedy at least going to US or China. Still better than most English forwards

Gabby Agbonlahor did some sterling service for Aston Villa Football Club. He scored many important goals and worked selfishly for the team. He made Martin O'Neil's hoof ball effective by getting on the end of clearances and making them look like passes. He fitted into Houllier;s passing game, rescued McCleish's dire football by giving the team an outlet with his pace. Even Paul Lambert was lucky to have him as a cutting edge. Eventually all that graft took its toll and by the end his body was shot. The last contract he was given tarnished his legacy but even then he made us happy one more time by scoring the winner against the 'noses. We should remember the kid that cost us nothing, broke into the team, played every minute of every game, covered ever blade of grass, and scored goals home, and away, against the elite Premier League teams. It's not his fault he was offered one contract too many. Thanks Gabby.

How is he only 32, if I was asked two mins ago I'd have said 40 as he seems to have been playing so long. Anyway no ill will towards the man. Enjoy retirement or a new career
