One of the early transfer sagas of the summer is Manchester United's pursuit of Crystal Palace defencer Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
After having a bid of £50m snubbed by the Selhurst Park outfit, United have upped their offer to £55m for the highly rated full-back as they look to land one of their man targets.
And for former Crystal Palace trainee Charlie Rees, Wan-Bissaka's potential move to Old Trafford provided him with a moment of reflection.
Writing on Twitter, Rees shared a picture of himself and Wan-Bissaka as youngsters at Palace and put: 'One of these blokes is about to sign for United for 50 million, the other has just put a fivers worth of petrol in his motor.'
He received an array of sympathetic replies, as well as some from other Twitter users who believe he could still have a role to play in the game.
'You'd probably make it in the United side at this moment in time if we're being honest,' one response said.
Rees was asked in a number of replies why he didn't make the grade at Palace.
'Didn't make the most of the chance I was given,' he said to one user, while in another response wrote: 'I didn't want it enough if I am honest.'
Wan-Bissaka could become United's second signing of the summer after purchasing Swansea winger Daniel James.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is plotting a summer overhaul after United finished sixth in the Premier League last season.
Wan-Bissaka is currently competing for England in the Under 21 European Championship. They lost their opening match 2-1 to France, with Wan-Bissaka scoring an own goal in stoppage time.

Like a Chinese club being in the PL, players join Man United just for the money now. Europa League awaits. Reminder that this club has won 0 big trophies since Fergie left.

That's ok. You had the opportunity to train for a while in top class facilities and maybe see some first team players up close, while doing something you liked. Nobody can take those experiences away from you.
