Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes his former club could be on their way backwards, finding themselves stuck in the same situation as a few years ago. The cause of worry is the Reds' squad depth, which he fears is not adequate enough to challenge for all pieces of silverware, especially after recent departures.
Liverpool have so far announced the arrivals of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey. However, Fowler wants them to continue adding players to their ranks after having sold Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino and letting go of Divock Origi.
He told bettingexpert:
"I don’t want Liverpool to be in the same boat they’ve been in a few years ago when the squad wasn’t great. Don’t get me wrong, the first eleven now would be brilliant, but when you start getting rid of maybe three or four players, the squad is not as strong as it was.
He went on to add:
"It is funny actually. One of Liverpool’s problems over the years was they never had the depth, they never had the squad to compete on every level. All of a sudden they got that squad to compete at every level."
The Reds had a near-perfect campaign in the 2021-22 season where their hopes of a quadruple were alive even in May. Jurgen Klopp's men won the the EFL Cup and FA Cup, besides reaching the final of the Champions League. They almost beat Manchester City to the Premier League trophy before finishing second.
In fact, they played every possible game they could have played in the 2021-22 season. Fowler believes that this Reds squad is capable of doing it again and they should be backed to do so, saying:
"People would say, maybe we don’t need to play that many games. I don’t get that, I really don’t because we want them to compete at every level. There are a few options for certain players, we don’t know whether they want to keep them or not."
Stressing that the Reds cannot afford to go back to the level they were in a few years ago, he said:
"So then you maybe go back to the level it was maybe a few years ago. And I don’t think Liverpool can afford to do that now, because they’ve worked so hard, and they did so well to get where they are."

However, Fowler will surely be happy like the rest of the Reds faithful after the club announced Mohamed Salah's new contract. The Egyptian, who entered the last year of his contract, has now penned a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2025.
Speaking to the Liverpool FC official website about Salah, Klopp said, via Liverpool Echo:
"He belongs with us I think. This is his club now. I have no doubt Mo's best years are still to come. And that's saying something, because the first five seasons here have been the stuff of legend. He is adored by his teammates. As coaches, we know we work with someone special."

it's in the back of my mind too fowler..a little worried of the depth..but i think the coach is banking on the youngsters to come through..and if the do that wud be great bcuz they wudnt be worrying about game time but glad to play wen called upon..jus taught we needed even one more midfielder even to get rid of Chamberlain bcuz I think wing back Is the perfect position for him..but if the goal is for a top young midfielder nex season..den I'll work with dat..👍👍

Buying young talent is good and I don't have problem with that.... But the problem young talent doesn't become world class instantly....it will take 2-3 yrs to develop them and klopp is capable yo do that.... The problem is what will happen in those 2-3 yrs.....if we sell all the experienced players to bring in young players we have to wait to win the titles.... An in that period of time city will ne winning everything... Last 5 yrs we won 5/6 trophies...1 league title in that time oeriod and that is not enough...whereas city is winning every season.....took 5 yrs years for klopp to get the playes he signed to reach this level and to win trophies.... Now we are repeating same cycle......it will take another 5 yrs for these young players ...and winning 1 league title is not enough.... Pple will day klopp and FSG make this club great again....I will agree with that.... But are we gonna finish second or third or fourth every season....is that enough.... we don't wanna be like arsenal wingers arsenal...... With this current squad which is one of the best in europe just won one Leahkgie title coz we didn't have squad depth from the beginning.....we are selling our best player to bring another player...... Whereas city is buying every one...

Thanks Fowler don't fear, We have a Manager and the back room, Who knows Now what the football means; just see it was impossible to control the Two boys to stay at the team, Mo SALAH and Mane, we are supposed to pay them about the same salary; It was good one to go for the good of Liverpool ; 2; Am happy For Jurgen KLOPP they have Changed the EPL in buying the players, who are playing at home, now All Teams are buying good players on a good price of amount,

But selling taki and origi just to give Salah 400000 a week??? okay if that was the plan with Salah why bring in Nunez because Salah as far as I watch the game always wants to be the no1 in the squad which I fear might hinder Nunez potential. "salah's best year is ahead"?? where was he last time we played cl final, what happen to his revenge?? . why man city front three is amazing, because they play to score, unlike LFC where the players have to feed Salah to score so he can win the golden Boot. okay fine LFC did amazing investing in the attack. but attack was okay for us. what about the midfield???? hendo?? keita??
