Frank Lampard has become the first Chelsea manager in the club's 118-year history to lose his first four games in charge.

Lampard returned to Stamford Bridge on April 6 for a short-term spell until the end of the season following the dismissal of Graham Potter.

However, matters certainly haven't gone to plan so far, and Lampard has now broken an unwanted record, as reported by The Mirror.

Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in Lampard's first game of his second stint in charge and that was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Last weekend Chelsea lost 2-1 at home to Brighton in the league and then on Tuesday they were eliminated from the Champions League with another 2-0 loss against Real Madrid.

Lampard will hope that the sorry sequence will come to an end on April 26 when Chelsea host Brentford in their next game.

Following that, the Blues have fixtures against Arsenal, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Newcastle.

It is the first time that Chelsea have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions since November 1993.

In addition, Chelsea have failed to score in more than 18 different matches for the first time since the 1980-81 season.

Lampard lost the first game of his original stint at Chelsea with a 4-0 loss to Manchester United in 2019, but his side went on to secure a top four finish.

However, Lampard was dismissed in January 2021 and remained out of the game for a year before taking over at Everton.

Although he helped Everton avoid relegation last season, Lampard ended up being sacked by the Toffees in January this year.

Chelsea are currently languishing in 11th place in the Premier League and are out of all cup competitions.

It has been a hugely frustrating campaign for Chelsea, who started the season with Thomas Tuchel in charge before he was replaced by Potter.

Potter was Chelsea manager for 31 matches, during which time he won 12, drew eight and lost 11.
