Frank Lampard dashed the hopes of Rangers supporters wanting to see the Chelsea legend become their next permanent manager after revealing he is enjoying time away from the dugout to 'recharge'.
The former England star has been without a club since the conclusion of his interim spell in charge at Chelsea last season that saw Lampard brought back to Stamford Bridge for a second spell as first-team manager.
A torrid run of form followed and Chelsea appointed Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino as successor, leaving Lampard without a management position.
Rangers moved quick to sack Michael Beale following a disastrous start to the new Scottish Premiership season, with Lampard being linked as a potential successor to the Glasgow-club crown.
However, the 45-year-old explained he has no plans to join Rangers, or any other club, while he takes time away from professional football.
'Yeah good, less stress,' he said when speaking about Sky Sports about his current situation.
'I think it comes with the territory with managing, especially the stresses of the Premier League, the expectation, in any job.
'I think it's important that you try and find the time out of the game to recharge a bit and enjoy things you don't get the chance to do when you're working, so I'm probably in that spot at the minute,' he added.
'There's a balance of feeling fortunate of working in the Premier League, the expectations are great from the outside, any manager puts an expectation on themselves.
'It's not always easy because you want to be the best you can be but when you're out of a job that's your time to come away, take some perspective and realise family is the real positive of that side,' said Lampard.
Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen was the final straw for the Ranger hierarchy who moved swiftly to remove Beale from his post as supporters demanded change.
Meanwhile, AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen is favourite to take charge of the Scottish giants.
