Struggling Freiburg will hope Timo Werner is having an 'off' day when the rocket-propelled RB Leipzig goalscorer and his teammates arrive in the Black Forest on Saturday (kick-off 3:30 p.m CET/2:30 p.m GMT/9:30 a.m ET).
Latest
Werner's eight league goals have come in four bunches of two this term, and he most certainly was fully focused on the task in hand as he found the net twice against Borussia Mönchengladbach to bring the Foals to within a point of Ralf Rangnick's third-placed side on Matchday 13. It ended a two-game drought for the Germany international striker just as it halted a run of successive defeats in all competitions for his team. Werner's potency is all the more impressive given Emil Forsberg's continued absence as the Sweden international, who led the Bundesliga in assists in 2016/17, struggles to overcome a groin problem.
Freiburg's last victory was also against Mönchengladbach, but the problem for Christian Streich's men is that surprise three-point haul has been followed by just two more points from four league outings. There was promise in the performance Nils Petersen & Co. produced in the 2-0 defeat in Dortmund last Saturday, and they will need more of the same against Leipzig, who have scored four times in three of the four league games between the duo so far.
