French kids’ favourite footballer is Olivier Giroud – study

According to a study carried out by Le Journal de Mickey – a premier kids magazine for 7 to 14-year-old French children – Olivier Giroud is the nation’s favourite celebrity amongst the aforementioned age bracket.

The study – which was produced by Ipsos for the magazine – evaluated all celebrities – with Giroud, Hugo Lloris and Kylian Mbappé the highest ranked individuals across the whole list, from 1st to 3rd.

Soprano – a music artist – who has topped these rankings for the last three years, finds himself in 4th place, ahead of footballer Antoine Griezmann (5th), astronaut Thomas Pesquet (6th) and YouTuber Michou (7th). The favourite actor of 7-14 year olds in France is Omar Sy in 8th place, ahead of the duo Bigflo and Oli (9th) and journalist Jamy Gourmaud (10th). Zinedine Zidane sits 12th in terms of this year’s favourite personalities.

Two chefs appear in the 2023 ranking: the media Cyril Lignac (18th) and Philippe Etchebest (26th). TV host Nikos Aliagas is in 32nd position and has gained 10 places compared to last year’s classification. This study has been repeated annually for 20 years and was carried out at the beginning of February amongst a representative sample of 400 children aged 7 to 14. Zinedine Zidane and actress Mimie Mathy are the only individuals to appear in the ranking every single year since its first edition in 2003.
