Marco Silva's future at Fulham remains a source of speculation, but he is adamant the club needs to make changes if they are to progress.
Fulham were disappointing in a 1-1 draw at relegated Wolves on Sunday, with Antonee Robinson scoring from the penalty spot after Mateus Mane had put the hosts ahead at Molineux.
The result left the Cottagers in 12th place, three points adrift of eighth-placed Brentford, whose vastly superior goal difference means their European hopes are all but over.
Silva will be out of contract at Fulham at the end of the season, and has been linked with Benfica as a replacement for Jose Mourinho, who is reportedly nearing a return to Real Madrid.
While it is unclear whether the Portuguese will stay at the club, he insisted change is needed if they are to take another step forwards in the Premier League.
"I'm ambitious, I always want more," he told Sky Sports. "I wanted to give a chance for [the fans] to have a European journey next season. It was not possible, and we have to move on now.
"The most important thing is to analyse well and be clear with the board what needs to keep moving forward, because standing still is not good in the Premier League.
"We have been talking with the board and, of course, we're talking again next week, so let's see. It's been a long journey. The decision is always going to be what is the best for Fulham.
"I think it has to be a big summer at this football club because we have many things to analyse: why, in certain moments, we have not been able to make that step forward that we should, and many things to address. After that, we take the best decisions."
Wolves had the better of the second half and hit the post through Adam Armstrong, with a draw not enough to lift them off the foot of the table.
Rob Edwards assured supporters, who greeted the full-time whistle with boos, that the club is already working on immediately returning to the top flight from the Championship.
"We want to come back at the first time of asking. That's the aim, and I think we can see it," he said.
"We're trying to stay as competitive as we can right now, but there's a lot of work going on now to make sure we can change what we need to going into next season, because it's clear, it's obvious, and we're looking forward to refreshing that.
"When we came in, we were in a really difficult spot. We took it on knowing it was going to be a big challenge, and we want to make sure we're part of turning it around."
