Fulham have been offered the chance to sign Luciano Vietto from Atletico Madrid on loan, with the transfer window closing today.

The 24-year-old Argentine was on loan at Valencia last season and is surplus to requirements at the Wanda Metropolitano.

He was signed after impressing at Villarreal in 2014/15 but has struggled to repeat the form that saw him score 18 goals in 48 games there.

Vietto began his career in his native Argentina with Racing Club under the tutelage of current Atletico boss, Diego Simeone.

He then made a move across the Atlantic to join Villarreal in August 2014, and made an instant impact scoring twice in the Europa League victory over Astana that month.

After showing good form, he then made a £18million move to Atletico in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to make 25 appearances for the club, scoring three times in all competitions.

However, he was loaned out  to rivals Sevilla for part of the 2016/17 season and spent another loan spell at Valencia last term.

Vietto featured four times and scored twice for Atletico during their recent pre-season campaign and was awarded man-of-the-match after the 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

The newly-promoted Fulham have been busy during the summer transfer window, with Slavisa Jokanovic's side having already acquired a handful of players.

They include Jean Michael Seri, Maxime Le Marchand, Fabricio Agosto Ramirez, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Alfie Mawson and Calum Chambers.

Germany international Andre Schurrle has also joined on a two-season loan from Borussia Dortmund.

In what will be their first game in the top flight for four years, Fulham face London rivals Crystal Palace at home on Saturday afternoon.
