Gareth Bale abruptly TERMINATES interview after being asked about his future

A furious Gareth Bale abruptly terminated his post-match interview after being asked if he would be retiring just minutes after Wales were dumped out of Euro 2020 by Denmark.

The 31-year-old forward said earlier this year he would reveal his plans for the future after the tournament, but flat-out refused to discuss it on Saturday after their 4-0 defeat.

After being asked by a BBC reporter post-match if that would be his last game for Wales, Bale immediately terminated the interview and stormed off.

Bale cut a frustrated figure towards the end of the match as Denmark twisted the knife by scoring two late goals to inflict more misery on Wales, who were outclassed by an inspired Danish side in Amsterdam.

The Wales captain, who has one more year left on his Real Madrid contract, insisted back in May that he knows where his future lies, but claimed it would 'cause chaos' if he revealed it before the tournament.

Bale admitted he was heartbroken by Wales' exit but insisted every player gave it their all.

'It's not how we wanted the game to go. We started well, we conceded a goal and the game changed a little bit,' he said following the defeat

'We unfortunately made a mistake, which killed the game on our side. To finish how we did was disappointing but I'd rather go out like that than doing nothing.

'It was a foul but the referee was being influenced by a lot of supporters but there's no point missing excuses.

'We missed an opportunity but I think we can't fault the effort the boys showed.'

That was when the interview turned sour, with Bale choosing to walk off when his future was brought up.

Wales were still very much in the match at the start of the second half, trailing just by the one goal which was superbly scored by Kasper Dolberg.

But the Danes took complete control after the break with Dolberg being gifted a second goal after Neco Williams got his clearance horribly wrong and gave it straight to the striker to slot in from close.

With Wales chasing the game, Denmark showed their ruthlessness in front of goal by punishing them on the break to add two more goals late on, with Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite scoring them.

Denmark will now meet the winner of Italy and Austria in the quarter-finals.
