Garnacho: Forest has great players and is eager to win; We must be well-prepared

Alejandro Garnacho is eager to help Chelsea build further momentum on our return to Premier League action away at Nottingham Forest.

The spell between the September and October international breaks was a tricky one for the Blues, with results not matching those achieved in the opening weeks of the campaign and our absentee list growing due to injuries and suspension.

Chelsea finished on a high, though. A deserved victory was recorded over Benfica on the night that Champions League football returned to Stamford Bridge, and they followed that up with a confidence-boosting 2-1 victory over reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.

Estevao Willian's 95th-minute winner created a raucous atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge and ensured they knocked the Reds off the top of the table.

Forest, meanwhile, suffered back-to-back league defeats before the international break and currently sit 17th in the table. However, Garnacho knows the Blues can't be complacent at the City Ground if they are to add to the momentum generated by their dramatic win over Liverpool.

‘It’s a hard moment for them, but you never know in football,’ said the winger, who joined the Blues in the summer from Manchester United. ‘They may not have been winning games, but they have good players and will want to win. We have to be ready.

‘We are in a good position in the league [five points off top spot], especailly after we had a little bit of bad luck with red cards. For example, the game against Brighton, we should win that game. And the game at United, if we play 11 against 11, I feel we would be on top.

‘But we are okay. I think it's important to build from the last win against Liverpool and try to win again to be up there.’

Garnacho was eased into the Chelsea set-up following his move from Manchester United in August – the Argentine's first two outings for the Blues, against Brentford and Bayern Munich, came as a substitute.

But the 21-year-old started our wins over Lincoln City and Benfica, and followed that up with an impressive outing against Liverpool. And having now settled into life at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho is confident of what can be achieved by the Blues squad this term.

He said: ‘I think we have a team that can fight in the league and for the rest of the trophies, and we want to try to win at least one trophy. Because of the moment of the team, of the club, I think we can fight for the big trophies. It's the dream we have.’
