Ever since Alejandro Garnacho fired Manchester United ahead against Everton in November with a spectacular overhead kick, fans have wanted to know how he thinks it compares to Wayne Rooney's 2013 effort.
Rooney scored one of the great Manchester United goals with an acrobatic effort of his own, although that time it came against Man City at Old Trafford.
Ahead of today's Manchester Derby, Sky Sports put the question to Garnacho as to whether his strike was better than Rooney's.
The Argentine winger, who has been asked this regularly for months, admitted that one of the goals was technically better but the other was 'more important'.
He said: 'Too many people ask for this but I think Rooney's was more important. It was against Manchester City and was an important moment.
'But the technique, probably mine.'
Team-mate Kobbie Mainoo was playing against Everton when Garnacho produced his magic and he had actually seen the Argentine's technique from their academy days.
He said: 'We played together in the U17s and he scored a similar goal to that and so when I saw the ball go up [into the air] I thought, "he's going to go for that!"
'But it was still surprising and crazy to see it go in on the pitch.'
The criticism of Rooney's strike is that he came off his shin - something he joked is harder to do during a recent TV punditry appearance.
While Garnacho was keen not to dismiss Rooney's great strike in favour of his own, others haven't been so cute with their answers.
Rio Ferdinand has been adamant that Garnacho's stunning acrobatic goal was better than Rooney's Manchester derby strike.
Asked which strike was better on his Vibe with Five podcast, Ferdinand replied without hesitation: 'Garnacho. One was off a shin pad, the other was off his boot. I'm sorry, Wazza.
'I was in my house in the front room with my family and we went ballistic. It was nuts. Even my little boy, his tooth had just fell out, he fell and his tooth just got knocked out, he was trying to do overhead kicks in the living room like probably millions of little kids around the world at the time.
'That goal is better than Rooney's. He was running away from the goal, a bit further away from the goal, at an angle. It was unbelievable, breathtaking moment.'
United will hope Garnacho can conjure up some more magic today when he and his team-mates head down the road to face Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag's side go in as significant underdogs but Garnacho will hope to channel Rooney and strike a dagger into City's hearts, hurting their title bid in the process.
