Gary Lineker has given his verdict on calls for Pep Guardiola to be sacked by Manchester City.
The Spaniard suffered yet another harrowing defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday night as City were knocked out in devastating fashion by Real Madrid in the second-leg of their semi-final clash.
City were 5-3 up on aggregate with just minutes left on the clock at the Bernabeu after Riyad Mahrez's goal, but suffered a meltdown as Rodrygo scored two goals in as many stoppage time minutes for Los Blancos. The writing was on the wall for extra-time and captain Karim Benzema sealed City's exit with a penalty, leading to calls by some to sack Guardiola.
One Twitter user wrote: "Are Man City ever going to sack Pep Guardiola for his repeated failure? And yes, it is failure. You don't spend £2bn on players for a few domestic pots."
A second tweeted: "In a serious club, Guardiola will be getting the sack after this game."
And another fan on talkSPORT said: "The board needs to re-evaluate. We need a manager that wins at this level. We've done everything at the domestic level, but we can't do it in the Champions League... we need a manager who can perform."
Do you think Pep Guardiola will ever win the Champions League with Man City? Let us know in the comments section.
But former England and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker savagely shut down talks of the man who has delivered City three league titles and a Champions League final being sacked.
Lineker sided with Guardiola despite his failure to win the competition with the Manchester club, simply quote-tweeting the talkSPORT fan's comments with: "Fools."
Guardiola has now been knocked out of Europe once in the semi-finals with City, three times in the quarters and again in last year's final against Chelsea. His previous wins both came at Barcelona over a decade ago, having also missed out on the coveted prize with Bayern Munich.

Thank God that there are people out there who still know what football is all about,Those people calling for Guardiola sack are people have PhD in evil machinations combined with football illiteracy,Those who know football know that he is still the best, but haters and adverseries are doing everything possible to hide and smear this football genius, but it can't work,God have already blessed Guardiola with this wonderful talent so it can never be erased, whosoever know football knows that mancity outclassed Madrid, and that's why Guardiola even made the mistake of substituting players towards the end of the match, not knowing that Madrid with their weapons of destruction (referee)is lurking to seize any opportunity to pounce at the dying minutes so that you don't have time to react, Madrid expressivily won the match with referee hand!!! International Robbers!!!

You think Real Madrid's mentality and the know how to play the UCL was developed in a few years....Chelsea started pursuing the ucl frm 2004 when Abramovic bought the club and they failed on several occasions before they won it in 2013.....with all FC Barcelona's history it took us 37yrs to win our first ucl...so it's not a new thing that man city is going through this phase when it cms to the UCL....they will continue to go through it but if they continue to push for it eventually they will win it...we shudnt forget that Ranieri, mourinho, avram grant, villas boas and the almighty Ancellotti coached Chelsea but it was Di matteo who won the UCL for Chelsea for the 1st tym so let's not kill man city bcx they spend big but hvnt win the ucl bcx wen chelsea was chasing their 1st UCL they spent big by buying drobga,Essien, shevshenko,Ballack,Crespo,Torres, the list can go on. Sir Alex Fegursson won 2 UCLs in 26 years of coaching for United...with all the history and money manchester united had then he only won 2 UCL but u guys want us to worship him....we shudnt talk n behave as if it's easy to win the UCL....Pep is always critized for not winning UCL at Bayern even though he reached 3 consecutive UCL semi finals...Ancellotti went to Bayern and he didnt even reach the ucl semis but nobody said anything....Ancellotti was at PSG too n with all their financial power he coundnt win the UCL with them bcx they are also trying to win their 1st UCL just like man city...we shudnt be hypocrites.
