Gary Neville has offered some tongue-in-cheek wisdom to his Sky Sports co-pundit Jamie Carragher, amid the Liverpool legend's feud with Pep Guardiola.
The City boss hit out at the duo and Micah Richards for their suggestions that the reigning champions might have become complacent, claiming none of them ever won four titles in a row.
The Treble winners are looking to make history with a stretch of four consecutive Premier League crowns, with Neville's United the only other side to have won three on the bounce.
However, Carragher was quick to respond, stating that he believes he would've won a league title if Liverpool could boast the same riches as City, while also suggested that the Citizens had 'pushed the rules'.
Now Neville has had his own say, but rather than respond directly to the Man City manager, decided to take a pop at his friend Carragher in jest.
'We'll start of course with the fact that the old master Pep has had a got at me and Carra for not winning four in a row - sorry Pep, apologies for that - and for my friend James from Liverpool for not participating in Premier League title celebrations at all during his career, which did make me chuckle slightly,' he began on TikTok, jokingly poking fun at his friend.
'But the dirty little Scouse dog Carragher had to go back at Pep didn't he? He couldn't rise above it and see it as a compliment, and he says to Pep "If I'd been owned by a nation state or had 115 charges against me and pushed the rules then I'd have probably won a Premier League".
'Carra, I reckon you'd have won a Premier League title, mate, if you hadn't kept kicking the ball into the back of your own net! That would've been a massive help to your team!'
The Sky pundits' comments came in the wake of the 3-3 draw with Tottenham - a third successive league draw for the champions, after being held by Chelsea (4-4-) and Liverpool (1-1) in a difficult run of games for the Citizens.
It was also the second game in a row that saw them concede in the 90th minute or later, with City seemingly struggling to see out results of late conceding eight goals in three straight draws — their worst run in the Premier League since 2017.
That being said, they have had almost the toughest possible run of games; Arsenal (a), Brighton (h), Manchester United (a), Bournemouth (h), Chelsea (a), Liverpool (h), Tottenham (h) and now Aston Villa (a) on Wednesday night.
The City boss took aim at the three Sky pundits in his press conference ahead of the game at Villa, saying: ‘Gary Neville knows how difficult it is otherwise he would’ve won four Premier Leagues in the best period of Manchester United.
'But he didn’t do it. Maybe they accuse us of complacency because they felt complacency (at United). Maybe they felt it. This team so far, no chance.
‘Jamie Carragher didn’t win one (title). Micah Richards didn’t win four Premier Leagues in a row. Never, ever. It’s never happened.
‘I don’t have anything to say about the pundits, honestly. It’s not about that (complacency). Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s about complacency.
‘I know the players, I know how they run. How we behave is extraordinary. I have a feeling that if we maintain that level, we’ll win the Premier League. We will win it again.'
City are currently third in the top-flight on 30 points, behind Liverpool (31) and Arsenal (36), although both they and the Reds play their game in hand on Wednesday and could cut the gap to the Gunners.

That Carragher was a useless defender during his days. He owns the record of most owns goals but will always be the first to criticize players now. Useless defender.

Alvarez cover KDB but City cant replaced Gondugan, that's why Rodri alone and City concede too many goal. City's defensive issue cant hold their title.

I’d rather see Hanson and Lawrenson Give their opinion on the game, only pair of Liverpool defenders, who actually have the right to comment.
