Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has publicly stated his desire to step back from commentating on Manchester City matches until the club's ongoing financial appeal is resolved. Manchester City was previously found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules by an independent commission. The club is currently appealing the decision, and this unresolved legal battle makes it difficult for Neville to provide objective commentary on Manchester City's performances.
Neville requests to recuse himself from commentary duties
Following Manchester City's 3-0 away victory over Liverpool, Neville revealed on Sky Sports that the club's legal troubles have significantly impacted his ability to commentate objectively.
"We were just talking about it on the podcast, that for the next few months, until all the rulings come out, I would be very happy if I could be taken off the Manchester City commentary list."
Even after witnessing impressive performances from players like Elliot Anderson at Anfield, Neville struggles to focus solely on the football itself.
"Imagine if, next January or February, the violations are confirmed and Manchester City's current league position is affected. The entire Premier League would be cast under a huge shadow, which is not good for the league. I truly realized that today."
Players and coaches should not suffer for management's mistakes
Both Neville and fellow pundit Jamie Carragher stressed that the team's players and coaching staff should not bear the brunt of public scrutiny caused by the club's management decisions. The appeal process is still ongoing, and the players themselves are not involved in the past financial allegations.
"This is the dilemma facing Manchester City's players, staff, and fans. The whole situation is not their fault, yet they have to endure stigma and reputational damage on the pitch and in the stadium week after week."

Both Gary Neville and Jaimie Carragher should be removed immediately, the total bias comments are ridiculous, stating that a goal scored by Man City is not welcomed by the whole country, that is just not true.
