Getafe exercise option to purchase Cucurella from Barca for €6m (Marca)

Getafe have exercise their option to purchase Marc Cucurella from Barcelona for six million euros, according to Marca.

The young midfielder has excelled on loan under Jose Bordalas during this season and the Madrid-based club were eager to tie him down long term at the fee that was agreed with the Blaugrana last summer.

Cucurella was loaned out to Eibar for the 2018/19 season, a move which they made permanent for two million euros, only for Barcelona to buy him back immediately for four million euros.

When sent out to Getafe, however, there was no such clause placed in the agreement, meaning that Barcelona no longer hold any connection with the player.

What Barcelona do maintain is a 40 percent sell on clause should Getafe sell Cucurella in the future.

Cucurella has gathered plenty of admirers both in the Premier League and in the Bundesliga, meaning that Getafe would not struggle to sell him at a profit in the summer, though the option of him remaining at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez is not ruled out either.
